CHS Swimmers Divers Set School Records Make Big 6A Splash
With 11 Cullman High School athletes advancing to final events, the Bearcat Swim and Dive teams completed a record setting performance at the AHSAA State Swim and Dive Championship on the Auburn University campus this past weekend.
The men’s team placed 15th in the 7A-6A State Championships (4th among 6A public schools). The men’s free relay finished sixth in a school record of 1:33.99 and 11th in the medley relay. Individually, Eric Pilcher set new school records in the 50 yard free style and 100 yard breast stroke. Colby Hutson set a new school record in the 100 yard butterfly.
The women’s team finished 17th in the 6A-7A classification (4th among public 6A schools) led by Anna Trevarthen and her 5th place finish in diving. Callie Hollingsworth set a new school record in the 50 yard free style. The women’s free relay finished 14th overall with a new school record of 1:46.05.
