60 Degree Cullman Christmas High Pressure Takes Over

With wind chills somewhere around 10 degrees on this Monday morning, it may seem preposterous to think that by Christmas Day (Sunday) there will be sunny skies and high temperatures at or above 60 degrees.

As unlikely as it may seem, the extended weather forecast reveals a beautiful, warm Christmas 2016 in Cullman County increasingly likely.

How is this possible?

Global patterns in the upper air movement across the northern hemisphere will effectively ‘flip’ this week with an upper high-pressure mass building over Florida. This substantial pressure should move both big rain producers and arctic cold away from Cullman County.

Starting tomorrow (Tuesday) a dry, warming trend kicks in. The high-temperature Tuesday should be near 50 degrees; Wednesday in the middle fifties. This sort of trend should continue on throughout the later portion of the week with Friday being at seasonally average highs and lows.

Christmas eve (Saturday) appears to be a sunny day with a very pleasant high approaching 60 degrees.

Christmas day should be even warmer with a mix of clouds and sun. A high temperature at or above 60 looks likely at this point.

Lemonade along with chips and salsa may be the appropriate snack for Santa’s arrival instead of traditional cookies and hot chocolate.
