The Cullman High School Varsity Bearcat Baseball Team has parlayed their successful on the field exploits in recent years to a national #6 ranking in the prestigious College Baseball Newspaper 2017 preseason poll:

2017: The Year Of Lofty Expectations

The Cats went 41-14 last season finishing as runners-up in the Class 6A state championship series.

Lovell is now a Mississippi State signee who batted .392 with 14 home runs, 15 doubles, 64 RBIs and 47 runs in 2016. In addition, he carried a fat .739 slugging percentage amassing a ridiculous .516 on-base percentage for the Bearcats.

Lovell is not too shabby on the mound either posting a 7-1 record with 59 strikeouts, three shutouts, and an ERA of 1.43.

Coach Brent Patterson enters his 7th season as the Bearcat Head Coach. He spent the previous 10 years as an assistant for the Bearcats with a continuing commitment to excellence. Coach Patterson’s teams have compiled a 209-95 record in his 6 year tenure.

His teams have made a Final Four appearance (2009), the 2011 team finished 2nd in the State after racking up a 45-11 record while setting the state single season record for doubles, and as mentioned above the 2014 team finished 2nd in the State.

Coach Patterson is a 1993 CHS graduate. Coach Patterson and his wife, Kristy, also a Cullman graduate, have been married for 14 years. They have a son, Brady who is 13 and a daughter Reese who will be 9 in April.
