District 9 Representative Ed Henry Will Not Seek 2018 Re-Election

Scott Stadthagen is will be running for Henry’s District 9 seat in the 2018 election.

The Decatur Daily is reporting that District 9 Representative Ed Henry (R) Hartselle will not seek re-election for his current seat in the Alabama House of Representatives.

Henry is a second term state legislator whose District 9 includes the totality of Hartselle, Falkville, much of south-central Morgan County, a silver of northwest Marshall County. This District also envelopes all of northwestern Cullman County, including East Point, Vinemont, and West Point.

Henry made the declaration when asked about Scott Stadthagen, Hartselle home builder said he is running for the House District 9 seat next year:

“If he truly feels that this is where God is leading him, then I’m glad he is being obedient because it is not God’s will that I run again for the Legislature.”

According to Decatur Daily reports that Henry declined to say what his future plans include or answer any other questions.

Henry has been considering a job in Washington, D.C. and applied for a job in the Trump Administration. Henry was a highly active, intensely motivated supporter of Trump as the co-chair of Trump’s Alabama campaign.

Scott Stadthagen is will be running for Henry’s District 9 seat in the 2018 election. He has strong ties to Hartselle.

Stadthagen has been the owner of Hagen Homes, Inc. since 2005. He is a member of Economic Development group of Hartselle, the Morgan County Builders Association, Hartselle Rotary, Leadership of Hartselle, Development Chair of new Hartselle Farmers Market, and the Chair-Elect of the Hartselle Area Chamber Commerce.

Stadthagen possesses a Bachelor of Science degree from West Alabama (2002) and played on a football scholarship to West Alabama (1996-02). He is a member with First Baptist Church of Hartselle.

He is married to Amy Peck Stadthagen and father to four-year-old Collins.

 

District 9 Representative Ed Henry Will Not Seek 2018 Re-Election

Ed Henry is most widely known as a legislator for his challenges to former Speaker of the House Mike Hubbard before the 2016 legislative session and his leadership in an impeachment investigation against Gov. Robert Bentley. 

In 2014, Henry took on and defeated a GOP primary candidate backed by the Alabama Education Association. In his remarks to the Decatur Daily, he said:

“What I’ve been hearing for months is that the Chamber of Commerce and the Alabama Education Association have been searching for several months for someone to run against me.”
