Fairview: The Grace Place hosted an unforgettable prom night experience – centered on God’s love – for people with special needs ages 14 and older on Friday evening … Tim Tebow Foundation Night To Shine In Falkville.

In simple terms, it was a Special Needs Prom. However, it was far more than that.

Night to Shine was a worldwide event hosted at over 350 churches in all 50 states and 11 countries including Albania, Ecuador, Haiti, Kenya, New Zealand, Philippines, South Africa, and Uganda. The impact was felt all over the world!

With Alabama Governor Robert Bentley making a guest appearance along with about 90 honored guests and 400+ friends, family and volunteers, Night To Shine was an unforgettable combination of spectacle and celebration as well as a touching testament to the uniqueness of people with special needs.

Massive cheers along the red carpet coupled with limousine arrivals and camera flashes made this gathering even more special. With hair styling booths, facial makeup centers, and shoe shine stations, plus a dance floor where every attendee was crowned as a king and queen, Night to Shine was an indisputable success.

This mega-event ran from 6-9 pm ending with the crowning ceremony and a huge balloon drop.

Fairview: The Grace Place Pastor Milan Dekich summarized the impact of the event perfectly:

“As a church, we are always seeking to be of service to those around us, particularly those that often go unnoticed. A Night to Shine fits perfectly into our mission as a church. We get to encourage and lift up people with special needs. It gives us a chance to show God’s love to our entire community in very a physical way.”

Danielle Hayes along with Kelly McAnally oversaw planning for A Night to Shine. These two women directed a diverse team of around 250 volunteers who served in a number of capacities: caterers, chaperones for attendees, DJ’s, decorators, hair/makeup stylists, paparazzi, greeters, shoe shiners, standby emergency medical personnel and more. Hayes said they had no challenges in finding the volunteers; everyone wanted to be apart of Night to Shine.

Event coordinator Kim Baker explains some of the fine points surrounding Night To Shine in this interview:
