INTERVIEW CAPTAIN SMITH Berlin Fire Rescue

INTERVIEW CAPTAIN SMITH Berlin Fire Rescue

Multiple firefighting agencies have responded to a request from Cullman e-911 involving an out of control grass fire along the 1000 block of Highway 69 North.

With large plumes of dark black smoke clearly visible from downtown Cullman, firefighters from Berlin Fire & Rescue were first to arrive on the scene.

These responders quickly discovered the blaze was far more than a common grass fire. The found eight separate vehicles fully involved in a fire along with multiple used tires behind the popular Shaddix Motors facility.

Strong winds gusting up to 25 mph from the southwest clearly accelerated the inferno.

Mutual aid responses soon followed the initial arrival with Cullman Fire Rescue, Gold Ridge & Fairview Fire Departments participating in the multiple angle fire attack.

All eight vehicles involved in the fire have been largely destroyed. It is likely each will ultimately be deemed a total loss.

In this interview, with speak with Captain Smith of Berlin Fire & Rescue. Smith was on the front lines this afternoon:
