CULLMAN COUNTY WEATHER: WEDNESDAY – March 1 2017
ALMOST 100% CHANCE OF RAIN – SEVERE STORMS POSSIBLE – High 73°
SCHOOLS CLOSING EARLY: Due the threat of severe weather, Cullman City (pending time) and County Schools (11:30 am) as well as some private schools are closing early today with NO after school activities planned including youth sports.
NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook: Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible today…pushing southeastward and affecting areas west of Interstate 65 during the morning…and shifting east of I-65 during the midday and early afternoon hours. All modes of severe weather are possible…although damaging winds up to 70 MPH will be the primary threat. Tornadoes and large hail cannot be ruled out.
TODAY: Cullman County weather will intense at times with showers and thunderstorms likely after 111 am or so. The high temperature will be near 72 with south-southwest wind gusting as high as 25. Winds shift to west-northwest in the afternoon as cold front passes through. The chance of precipitation is 90%.
New rainfall amounts up to one-half of an inch are possible.
TONIGHT: Rain chances decrease dramatically to only 20% before 9pm. Otherwise, partly cloudy with a chilly low around 38° accompanied by a north wind 5 to 10 mph.
SUNDAY: Much cooler with a high only near 58°. Sunny skies and a north wind 5 to 10 mph.
