Free Countywide Firemanship Classes Monday In Logan

The need for public awareness about the depleted ranks of firefighters across all of Cullman County’s over two dozen volunteer fire departments has never been higher.

The dwindling number of volunteer firefighters, rescue personnel, and medical response technicians is reaching a crisis level across Cullman AND all over the nation.

This recent Wall Street Journal story spells out the problem volunteer fire departments are facing nationwide.

Free Countywide Firemanship Classes Monday In Logan

Logan Fire & Rescue is on the front lines in Cullman County in an effort to better train existing fire service personnel on the latest 21st Century fire science AND invite new volunteers on both the career opportunities and basic skills needed in this field.

Logan Fire is conducting a free, easily understandable Firemanship Essentials I training class beginning on Monday, March 6th and running through March 23rd.

The Firemanship Essentials I course is designed to provide the student with basic information on fire service organization, the fireground environment, firefighter safety, the science of fire and fire behavior utilizing classroom lectures and discussions.

This course is recommended for all fire service personnel with little or no experience and those who wish to review and practice their basic skills.

Free Countywide Firemanship Classes Monday In Logan

These classes are FREE and available to everyone from across Cullman County and northern Alabama.

The only qualifications are that you have:

a. A valid driver’s license,
b. Have a genuine interest in fires and/or firefighting,
c. The ability to fog a mirror

Following successful completion of Firemanship Essentials I, you would have an opportunity to enroll in Firemanship Essentials II in April.

Logan Fire & Rescue will also conduct Emergency Care Provider (ECP) in May.

They will finish the year with ultimate in basic fire training: the Certified Volunteer Firefighter class (aka 160 Class).
