Saturday evening marked the season opening race series at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia. (ECM = Eric Cates Memorial)

Near perfect late-winter weather greeted the several hundred race enthusiasts who gathered at the track for the first time in 2017.

The running order for the evening was:

• Nesmith Crate Late Models
• Nesmith Street Stock
• Limited Late Model
• Nesmith Sportsman
• Pure Street
• Pony
• Buzz

In addition to the actual races, another highlight was the Eric Cates Memorial Candlelight Vigil and Balloon Release. For those unfamiliar with Eric Cates and his dog Gypsy, please go here for background information.

Below are many images from Opening Night at ECM Speedway. We hope these will provide a representative overview of the track and the people who make it all go.
