Jordan Lee Wins Bass Fishing World Championship

Cullman native picks up $300,000 in Bassmaster Classic World Fishing Tournament Sunday in Houston, Texas.

Cullman native – Jordan Lee – has won the 2017 World Championship of Bass Fishing.

Lee weighed in 12 fish totaling of 56 pounds, 10 ounces. That total was stockpiled upon an 8 pounds, 9 ounces on Day 1 and 21 pounds on Day 2.

He crushed the field today with the big bag of the tournament with a whopping 27 pounds and 4 ounces.

This 2017 GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods — was being held in the Houston area for the first time in the event’s 47-year history.

Lee has fished 41 Bassmaster tournaments so far in his career. Before this event, he had earned $348,479.

Today’s winner check for $300,000 nearly doubled his career total!

Lee won the Carhartt Bassmaster College Championship in 2013.

52 of the world’s best bass anglers competed in this weekend’s tournament.

The fishing competition took place on Lake Conroe, a 21,000-acre impoundment of the San Jacinto River in Montgomery and Walker counties in Texas. These reservoirs are noted for producing big largemouth bass.
