INTERVIEW Firefighters Save Home From Fully Involved Truck Fire

Their rapid response likely kept the fire from igniting the fuel tank of the vehicle and preventing what could have easily become a tragic house fire.

Firefighters from Dodge City and Jonhson’s Crossing responded to a Cullman e-911 call concerning a fully involved vehicle fire with a residential structure endangered late this afternoon.

Upon arrival at the address along County Road 587 in the Dodge City area, emergency responders found a very nice, white GMC four-door pickup truck on fire. The vehicle was less than 20 feet from an equally nice two story residential structure.

Led by Micheal Weaver of Dodge City Fire & Rescue, the firefighters had the blaze completely extinguished within 10 minutes with NO damage to the nearby home.

Their rapid response likely kept the fire from igniting the fuel tank of the vehicle and preventing what could have easily become a tragic house fire.

On the personal side of the incident, the owner of the vehicle was planning to trade the truck in tomorrow for an upgraded version. It was a tough break for this super cool resident. Hopefully, his insurance company will assist fully in covering his loss.
