Cullman Farmers Market Gets Spectacular Mural

The drab, faded signage on the side the Farmers Market building at Festhalle Market Platz is now a part of Cullman history.

In its place is a spectacular, color-rich mural drawn by famed local mural artist Donald Walker.

Walker began his artistic transformation of the structure on Monday morning. After his third full day of work, he is close to full completion of the project.

The idea for this makeover of the Farmers Market facade was inspired by a national campaign ‘Buy Fresh, Buy Local’ that promotes and supports local food economies.

The essence of ‘Buy Fresh, Buy Local’ revolves around educating consumers about the many benefits of choosing locally grown foods, promoting local food providers, and improving fresh food access.

In this interview with Cullman Mayor Woody Jacobs and the artist himself, Donald Walker, you will gain a solid understanding of what is involved in this project and some background on Mr. Walker experienced, impressive skills:

The mural is expected to be 100% complete by week’s end. It will ready for full public viewing during Saturday’s edition of the Cullman Farmers Market at Festhalle Market Platz.
