Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Transforms Cullman City Park Into ART PARK

In addition to the park’s art focus, the vegetation and water features at Art Park will all be 100% environmentally sustainable.

The venerable Cullman City Park (aka Main Avenue Park) located on the northwest corner of Main Avenue and 2nd Avenue SW no longer exists.

Conceptually transformed into an innovative, environmentally-friendly park with a major focus on local artists and their beautiful work, the newly named facility is now known as Cullman Art Park.

In an 11 am ribbon cutting ceremony during the Art In The Park event on Saturday, April 15th, Cullman Mayor Woody Jacobs along with Park Director Nathan Anderson unveiled the architectural concept and drawings for the new facility.

The restoration of the old City Park represents a 100% makeover of the grounds. It will spotlight the skills of local artists. Thus, the name: Art Park.

In addition to the park’s art focus, the vegetation and water features at Art Park will all be 100% environmentally sustainable with each season’s colors and foliage represented.

In this video, you can watch the ribbon cutting as well as take a virtual tour of the new park with Director Anderson:

Art Park will become like no other park anywhere in Cullman County. Once completed and mature, this facility will be a crown jewel in the City Parks’ diverse community system. It is also quite obvious the finished park will be a strong driver for increasing property values throughout the surrounding neighborhoods.

Renta Urban Land Design provided the collaborative design with the involvement of the City Parks and Recreation department as well as Cullman City Hall.

They offer Urban Land Design and traditional landscape architectural services which encompass master planning, site planning, and development, as well as contract documents and administration.

Art Park was an opportunity for the firm to offer a smart, sustainable and practical solution that served multiple needs and requirements.
