Nicholas Fillinger Memorial Run on May 13, 2017

The Nicholas Fillinger Memorial Run is an annual event celebrating and remembering the life of Nicholas Fillinger.

Nicholas died tragically in a training accident in September 2013.

This 4th annual race will be run at St. Bernard in Cullman, AL which was one of Nicholas’ favorite places to run. The race benefits the Grace Chapel Choir (which Nicholas was a member of) and the Nicholas Fillinger Foundation.

EVENT DETAILS

May 13, 2017 – Saturday

7:00 to 7:45 am – Packet pickup and registration.
8:00 am – Race Begins
8:25 am to 9:00 am – Post race refreshments
9:15 am – Awards at approximately

COURSE INFORMATION

Cross country type of course primarily on the natural surface of well-groomed trails. There is a short segment on pavement. The course is rolling and very scenic. The starting line location is next to the gymnasium adjacent to the softball and baseball fields.

PARKING

As you enter the campus, bear to the left at the “Y” intersection and follow the signs for the gymnasium. There is a large parking lot at the gymnasium and the tennis courts. There will be parking attendants to assist you.

TEAM INFO
Nicholas loved Cross Country more than track because of the team nature of the sport. In his honor, there is a team division that allows participants to compete as individuals and teams.

Last year the team name and the uniform competition was a big hit; that will happen again this year.

Teams must be at least five people. Teams may be co-ed.

Teams MUST pre-register. There will be no race-day creation of groups.

Have fun with your team name and uniform (although uniform is not required)
We encourage high school teams to use this race as a kick-off event for summer training!!

THE FOUNDATION

The Nicholas Fillinger Foundation which seeks to honor their son’s memory. The foundation reaches out with the following objectives:

1) Support The Not Forgotten Orphanage in Peru with our time, resources, and talents which rescue at-risk boys from human trafficking.

2) Provide The Nicholas Fillinger Memorial Scholarship to a graduating senior headed to college.

3) Educate high school athletes about safe training practices.
