Welcome to the weekend!

A disabled 18 wheeler along Interstate 65 has northbound traffic at a virtual standstill from 157 to 278 (Exit 304 to 310).

A traffic jam on 157 from Highway 31 to Interstate has ensued.

The incident involves a big rig that found it’s way into a ditch near the 310-mile marker.

The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, Cullman Police Department, and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency are active at the scene.

Wrecker operators are attempting to extract the 18 wheeler. Once that is accomplished and the roadway is cleared traffic should return to normal flow.

In the meantime, avoiding traveling north on I-65 and on Highway 157 (between Highway 31 and the interstate) is wise.

No known ETA yet on a resolution of this traffic blockage.

Law enforcement has Interstate 65 northbound blocked.
