Cullman Police Bust Up Vinemont Counterfeiting Operation

Homeowner Mark Anthony Nix (52) was arrested and booked on multiple criminal charges.
On July 7th, the Cullman Police Department (CPD) received information about possible criminal activity involving the counterfeiting of US currency off Eva Road.
CPD gained consent to search the residence in question.
Once inside the dwelling, Sergeant Chris Thomason and Officers Trey Higginbotham, and Kyle Foshee along with Investigators Justin Craft and Scott Sanford recovered:
• Counterfeit US currency (varied denominations)
• Other items used to facilitate a counterfeiting process.
The location of the apparent forgery operation was along County Road 1435.
Also, coffee filters containing Methamphetamine as well as multiple items of drug paraphernalia were discovered at the address.
As a result, Cullman Police arrested the homeowner:
MARK ANTHONY NIX
Mark Anthony Nix (52) of Vinemont, AL
Nix received transportation to Cullman County Detention Center where he received processing, booking and the following charges:
• Forgery – 1st Degree
• Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument – 1st Degree
• Criminal Possession of Forgery Device
• Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance
• Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Mr. Nix has since bonded out of County Jail.
Nix is 52 years old. He listed is as a resident of Vinemont, Al
According to Sgt. Thomason,
“There have been a high number of counterfeit bills passed to local businesses lately. I would like to remind businesses to be on alert for counterfeit bills in denominations of 5, 10, 20 and 100. Please report any counterfeit bills you encounter to law enforcement.”
