Tonight (Monday, August 14th), the Cullman County Shoebox Ministry kick-offs their annual and famous Operation Christmas Child (OCC) program for 2017.

This year’s Operation Christmas Child campaign opens tonight at 6:00 pm with a big kick-off event at East Side Baptist Church.

This year’s campaign goal: 10,000 gift-filled shoeboxes from the generous support of Cullman County residents to be delivered to children in need around the world.

Tonight’s Kick-Off Meeting will include:

• A description of OCC promotional material,
• Ideas for successful shoe box programs,
• Special DVD message from Franklin Graham (president of Samaritan’s Purse),
• Free OCC decorated shoe boxes will be given away, while supplies last.

This event will also feature Door Prize giveaways. These prizes will include items useable in shoeboxes.

The gracious ladies of East Side Baptist Church will serve refreshments (1111 3rd Street Southeast, Cullman, AL 35055).

About Cullman County Shoebox Ministry

Over 80 churches and many individuals from Cullman County participate in this Samaritan’s Purse Christian mission program.

Over 10 million shoe boxes are collected worldwide each year. Each box contains the gospel message and each child receiving a box can enroll in a twelve step discipleship program, “The Greatest Journey.” Millions of children and adults have accepted Jesus Christ as their savior by participating in this practical mission program.

Northbrook Baptist Church, Fairview First United Methodist Church, and Crosshaven Church are the shoebox drop-off locations for Cullman County.

OCC collection week is Nov. 13th through 20th.

Other OCC events include an entry in the Cullman Fair Parade, an exhibit at the Cullman Fair and a joint promotion with Chick-fil-A.
