CPD Traffic Stop Yields Xanax, Counterfeit Currency Arrest

Cullman Police Officers Cole Kelley and Officer Justin Moser initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Andrew Jacob Maresh for a traffic infraction.

CPD Traffic Stop Yields Xanax, Counterfeit Currency Arrest

On September 4, 2017, Cullman Police Department Officers Cole Kelley and Officer Justin Moser initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Andrew Jacob Maresh for a traffic infraction.

During the traffic stop, Officer Kelley acquired probable cause to search the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, Officers recovered the following items:

Alprazolam pills (commonly referred to as Xanax pills)

Marijuana (approximately 17 grams)$1,312.00 dollars in US currency, $280.00 dollars in counterfeit US currency (all in counterfeit $20.00 dollar bills) and 1 Glock 23 with extended round magazine that held close to 30 rounds and was loaded.

Maresh was placed under arrest and charged with:

• Unlawful Possession of Marijuana – 1st Degree
• Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance
• Criminal Possession of a forged instrument – 1st Degree

Maresh was then transported to the Cullman County Detention Center where he was processed and booked.

Maresh has since made bond.

Sgt. Chris Thomason would like to commend Officers Kelley and Moser for their hard work and dedication. Sgt. Thomason asks that if anyone has any drug information that they would like to pass on to please call 256-734-1434 or 256-775-7179.

Maresh is 18 years old and is a resident of Cullman, AL.
