On Friday, September 1, 2017, Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Investigators arrested Stefanie Nichole Weaver, 23 years old of Vinemont.

She was charged with Sodomy 2nd Degree, Facilitating the Travel of a Child for a Sex Act, and Human Trafficking 1st.

After an investigation by Cullman County Sheriff’s Office Investigators it was discovered that the suspect, Ms. Weaver, had met a juvenile on Facebook and then traveled Ohio to meet the victim. The suspect admitted to CCSO investigators that once she was in Ohio she had knowledge of the minors age. Despite knowing the true age of the victim, the suspect had a sexual relationship with the minor in Ohio as well as after the suspect transported the victim to Cullman County. The minor was reported as a runaway juvenile out of the state of Ohio and was located by CCSO.

Due to this crime involving a minor CCSO will not be releasing any further details.

“This case is disturbing on many levels. I tell parents all the time to always watch who your children are talking to on social media because predators use social media. Also, it shows that predators will drive hundreds of miles, so we as parents and law enforcement have to stay vigilant in this new social media age” said Sheriff Matt Gentry. “I would like to thank our investigators for their prompt and immediate work in this case”, added Gentry.

Ms. Weaver is currently being held in the Cullman County Detention Center with a $150,000 bond.
