Cullman Motorcyclist Airlifted From Multiple Vehicle Vinemont Collision
Emergency responders from a number of Cullman area agencies were called out to the intersection of Goodwin Road and U.S. Highway 31 in Vinemont by Cullman e911.
The 911 call came in reporting a roadway collision involving a motorcycle around 5:30 pm Friday.
Upon arrival at the location, rapid responders discovered a multiple vehicle collision. Two individuals were injured in the accident including the motorcyclist.
Darren Sileven was the injured rider. While the extent and severity of his injuries are not currently available publicly, they were significant enough to warrant treatment at a Level 1 Trauma Center.
Personnel from Cullman EMS and Vinemont-Providence Fire Department evaluated, stabilized, and treated Sileven and one other party to the collision at the scene.
Air Evac Lifeteam 15 was summoned for Sileven.
According to Cullman EMS Director James Curtis, two parties required hospitalization. The motorcyclist was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital. The other patient was taken by ambulance to Cullman Regional.
Deputies from Cullman County Sheriff’s Office along with a Trooper from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency were also active at the location.
An initial Trooper investigation was conducted into the circumstances surrounding the mishap.
Goodwin Road and southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 31 were closed to through traffic for a lengthy period of time after the collision. The northbound lanes of 31 were also impaired with one lane blocked.
