The Cullman Today Week 5 GAME OF THE WEEK featured the Fairview Aggies who made the long journey to Kimberly to face the Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils.

The Aggies entered the contest having played only two high school football games in the first four weeks of the season sporting a 1-1 record. The battle-tested Blue Devils entered the game at a strong 3-1.

We broadcasted the entirety of pre-game activities and 1st quarter live::

The first half in Kimberly – except for three egregious turnovers by the Aggies – appeared to pit two evenly matched teams against one another.

On the first series of the game, Fairview elected to receive the kick-off. They were held to a 3-and-out with a punt. Unfortunately for the Aggies, the agile Mortimer Jordan special team ace Hayden Finney blocked the kick.

Little did anyone in attendance realize this would be the beginning of a rout that would end with 34-3 Blue Devils beat down of the Aggies.

Finney finished the job by returning his own block 20+ yards for the early 7-0 Mortimer Jordan lead.

After another short offensive series by the Aggies, the Blue Devils took over and generated some yardage, but no additional scoring.

On the next drive, Fairview quarterback Dayne Black was picked off by the Blue Devils Landon Rogers. The teams then traded turnovers to end the 1st quarter.

A solid ground game quickly led to another Mortimer score and a 14-0 lead.

Following a truly electric 85-yard kick-off return by the Aggies, they settled for a Jaxxon Swann 24-yard field goal. 14-3 with some sense that Fairview would be competitive the rest of the way.

A 25+ yard touchdown run with less than 2 minutes in the quarter gave the Blue Devils a 21-3 lead.

The Fairview Aggies Marching Band dazzled the crowd with one of their complex, inspired performances:
The Mortimer Jordan Marching Band put on a stunning show of their own:

The game was effectively over with the 3rd quarter kick-off. That boot was returned 67 yards for a fourth Mortimer Jordan touchdown. 28-3.

The Aggies held their own throughout the 3rd quarter with no additional scoring in that frame.

Mortimer Jordan tacked on another late, long touchdown run with less than 5 minutes to go in the fourth quarter. 34-4 (PAT was no good).

And that is how it ended:
