Veterans Day is an official United States public holiday. It is observed annually on November 11. This holiday honors military veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces.

Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day. Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, while Memorial Day honors those who DIED while in military service.

Today’s Veterans Day Celebration at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2214 was the embodiment of everything this touching holiday is all about.

This gathering was exactly the sort of Appreciation Day for veterans of all ages and branches that you’d expect from the caring, committed and engaged members of Post 2214 and their Auxiliary.

It was also a super kid-friendly blowout.

Attendees got everything they could reasonably hope for:

• FREE Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Chips, Snacks & Drinks
• Hourly Door Prize Drawings
• Rock Painting
• Bounce House
• Games For Kids
• Football … on the Big Screen
• Multiple information booths
• And a bunch of outstanding military veterans

The vendors were the highlight for many people. Featured were these outstanding, veteran supportive organizations:

• Bass Fishing Info
• Camp Liberty
• Cullman County Sheriff’s Office
• D&D Farms
• Fallen Heroes Bowfishing
• General Dynamics
• Savings Forgotten Warriors
• Veterans Administration
• Veteran Farms

Perhaps the most fascinating and unique vendor booth was inhabited by FALLEN HEROES BOWFISHING.

In this interview, we speak with Cullman’s top veteran-friendly bow fishers, Warren and Candace Reppond. They talk about the fun, camaraderie, and positive therapeutic effect of bow fishing on veterans and civilians.

Their not-for-profit agency would love to take you out on a bow fishing adventure – non-veterans also are welcome:

We hope you made it out to the Cullman VFW today.

The attention to detail, careful broad spectrum planning and militarily precise execution of this event made it a pleasure to participate in.

And special thanks to the ladies of the Auxiliary who slaved away in the kitchen for big stretches of this excellent event!
