CULLMAN MOTHER KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS IN EARLY MORNING HOME INVASION
8 year old makes 911 call; Assailant flees the scene on foot.
Multiple units from Cullman Police Department have descended upon a location along the 1500 block of Walker Street SW in the City of Cullman this morning.
They took action based upon a Cullman e911 call from an eight-year-old at a residence.
The young caller reported that her mother was unresponsive on the floor of a bedroom struck by a white male wearing a dark-colored hoodie.
The alleged assailant fled the scene on foot.
Sergeant David Nassetta has identified the suspect as a ‘tall, thin, young white male wearing a dark-colored hoodie.’
Personnel from CPD and other agencies are active at the location. Neighbors in the area should exercise caution by locking doors and windows. If you should see an individual matching the above description, call the Cullman Police at 256-775-7145.
This young family was on the way to school when they returned to the dwelling to retrieve a forgotten school item. The mother entered a back bedroom where she encountered the intruder who had entered through a window.
The intruder became an assailant when he struck the woman rendering her unconscious.
Curious about the delay in their mother returning to the car, an eight-year-old entered the home to find her mother unresponsive on the floor. The youngster then placed the 911 call.
A medical team from Cullman EMS treated the woman at the scene. They have just transported her to Cullman Regional with likely non-life threatening injuries to the head and upper body.
The children are safe according to Nassetta.
A search for the suspect is in progress.
