Emergency responders from multiple Cullman public safety agencies have been dispatched to the general area of Mile Marker 296 on Interstate 65.

They will be responding to reports that two (2) road construction workers have been struck by a moving vehicle on the interstate.

The incident has occurred in the southbound lanes of I-65.

Traffic is already backing up significantly to the north with the left lane blocked. Motorists are moving around the incident scene with slowdown (10-15 mph) and caution.

Personnel from Good Hope and Dodge City Fire Departments, deputies from Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, two medical teams from Cullman EMS are beginning to arrive at the location.

At least one Trooper with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is expected to arrive shortly followed by officials from the Alabama Department of Transportation.

It appears one individual may have sustained a significant injury to the head. Both patients are conscious at this time. A medical helicopter from Air Evac Lifeteam is inbound to transport one of the parties involved to Huntsville Hospital. The flight will depart from Dodge City Fire Station 31.
