Cullman Education Report Card 2016-2017

The Alabama State Department of Education has posted an ‘Education Report Card’ on their website:

This ‘report card’ is an online database/dashboard system which supplies federal data about the schools across the State of Alabama.

For the first time, parents, teachers, administrators, and everyone can compare specific schools, look at distinct school systems, and compare proficiency statewide in three subject areas: reading, math, and science. 2016-2017 ACT Aspire scores are included in the dashboard.

You can review the data based on gender, ethnicity, disability, migrant, and poverty status.

Also available for review are high school graduation rates. These rates show the percentage of students who earned a high school diploma within four years of entering ninth grade.

For folks interested in getting even more granular and specific in their assessment of Cullman or Alabama schools, you can visit the National Assessment of Educational Progress website.

They show key data in mathematics, reading, writing, and science at grades 4, 8 and 12 (where applicable) through 2015:

Again, you can review your specific school of interest’s performance here.

You can stay busy for hours sifting through all the data. We took the time to condense down the basic for each Cullman area high schools system:

We also compare Cullman schools against a high-income school district like Mountain Brook High School, and Sumter Central High School on the low end of the income scale.

By any assessment standard, it appears everyone has plenty of work still to do in Cullman and statewide to bring proficiency scores up closer to the 100% ideal.
