Occupant Extrication Required, Air Evac Called In

Emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection of County Roads 222 and 418 around 6:45 am this morning following a Cullman e911 call.

The 911 call concerned a two-car motor vehicle accident with multiple injuries initially reported.

Personnel from Logan Fire & Rescue and Bethsadia Volunteer Fire Department are working the wreck scene. They have just completed an extrication process freeing one party to the crash who was entrapped in the damaged vehicle.

Based upon visual inspection of the wreckage, this appears to have been a near-head-on collision.

As a result of the incident, County Road 222 is blocked to through traffic in both directions just west of Grandview Bridge in the Trimble community. There is total road blockage.

Medical teams from Cullman EMS and deputies with the Cullman County Sheriffs Office are active at the location.

One occupant involved in the crash sustained life-threatening injuries. The individual has just boarded a waiting Air Evac Lifeteam medical helicopter which just touched down in a field near the wreck the scene.

The air ambulance will be headed to Huntsville Hospital.

A second party was transported via ambulance to Cullman Regional.

A Trooper with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has just arrived at the wreck site. A full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is underway.

We just spoke with Maurice Reynolds, Emergency Medical Technician with Logan Fire, at the location:

“This was a tragic incident for everyone involved. We had one patient entrapped in their vehicle; it took a fair amount of extrication to free the individual.”
