Fatality Collision On County Road 1223

8:30 am Thursday Update: Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick has identified the deceased in this wreck: Kendra Elizabeth Johnson (34) of Vinemont. Joshua Robert Mentzer (21) of Hanceville was the individual airlifted to Huntsville Hospital.

The investigating Troopers indicated the driver and passenger were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

The 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck Johnson was driving struck a guardrail near Longview Church of God and overturned, the Trooper report noted.

Cullman e911 has dispatched multiple Cullman County emergency agencies to the scene of a motor vehicle wreck.

This incident has occurred along County Road 1223 in the Longview Community just west of Vinemont.

There is complete road blockage at this location which is near Longview Church of God. Motorists should make plans to avoid the area and choose alternative travel routes.

Responders from Vinemont-Providence Fire Department, the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, and Cullman EMS are working the incident.

An Air Evac Lifeteam medical helicopter is inbound to the location to transport one patient with life-threatening injuries to a Trauma Center outside of Cullman County.

It is believed another occupant to the crash is deceased. Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick has been summoned to the location.

A Trooper with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has just arrived. A full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision will begin once all patients are moved to safety by medical personnel.
