18-Wheeler Collides With Pick-Up In Hanceville Occupant Ejected

8:30 pm Update: The patient transported to UAB from this accident has died. Burshel Eugene Boatrite (74) of Crane Hill is the deceased. A female passenger in Boatrite’s pickup was injured and also transported by ambulance to Cullman Regional.

6:50 pm Update: Due to flight time delays, the patient has been taken by Cullman EMS ambulance to UAB Medical Center along with a member of Hanceville Fire & Rescue. Air Evac has been canceled.

Emergency response agencies have been dispatched by Cullman e911 to the intersection of Edmondson Road and Arkadelphia Road (US Highway 91) in the City of Hanceville.

The 911 call concerned a collision between an 18-wheeler and a small red pick-up truck.

At least one occupant of the truck was ejected by the force of the impact.

An Air Evac Lifeteam medical helicopter has been called to Hanceville Fire Station #1 which is about one mile from the crash site.

Personnel from Hanceville Fire & Rescue and Cullman EMS are tending to patients involved in the mishap in front of the popular Dale’s convenience store.

Also active at the location are police officers from Hanceville Police Department, a deputy from Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, and a Trooper with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Traffic on US Highway 91 and Edmondson Road is blocked to through traffic at the moment. Motorists should avoid this area and make alternate travel plans. The 18-wheeler involved has extensive mechanical damage as well; there may be an extended time period before this incident is fully cleared up.
