According to a report in the Gadsden Times by reporter Donna Thornton, Tyler Michael Abbott (17) of Hanceville was arrested in connection with the gunshot death of Aaron ‘A.J.’ Huff (18) of Gadsden.

Huff’s death represents Gadsden’s first homicide of 2018.

Another shooting Saturday that injured two have Gadsen citizens up-in-arms about violence in the community. Mayor Sherman Guyton had this statement:

“With the events occurring in our city over the last week. I feel compelled to speak out against the senseless violence. The Gadsden Police Department has been working virtually around the clock to identify those responsible for committing these crimes.

I commend our officers for their quick response and outstanding work identifying and arresting the suspects in these cases. I feel confident that these are isolated incidents that do not represent who we are as a community. We will do whatever is necessary to keep the citizens of Gadsden safe.”
