Officers with the Decatur Police Department were dispatched Saturday to the Walmart store along Spring Avenue in Decatur Saturday.

The 911 call regarded the alleged theft of merchandise from the store.

Two Cullman County women were detained at the store after police officers apparently witnessed them departing the store with items that had not been purchased.

Marian Accardi, a staff writer with the Decatur Daily, reports the value of merchandise in the shopping cart equaled $964.

The two women were promptly arrested:

ANN MARIE HARBISON (34) of Bethel

CARLA RENAE ARRINGTON (36) of Baileyton

Accardi goes on to report that officers also determined that Harbison had in her possession prescription pills without a valid prescription and marijuana, and Arrington had prescription pills without a valid prescription and a hypodermic needle.

As a result, these Cullman County women were charged with:

• Theft – 3rd Degree
• Possession of Marijuana
• Possession of Prescription Drugs

Ms. Harbison remains in Morgan County Jail on $1,600 bond. Ms. Arrington was released Saturday on $1,600 bond.
