Terri Pines Gas Line Catches Fire

Crews from Cullman Fire Rescue were dispatched this afternoon to Waterford Drive in the Terri Pines Addition this afternoon.

Division Chief Brian Bradberry believes a natural gas line was apparently ruptured while repairs were underway on a nearby a water line. The escaping natural gas caught fire.

Cullman Fire Rescue firefighters pulled precautionary exposure water hose lines while Cullman Jefferson Gas shut the gas off feeding into the line. The line supplied a gas lamp in an island in the middle of the street.

The position of the gas lamp helped to minimize any exposures to adjoining homes.

According to Bradberry:

“Cullman Jefferson Gas did a great job of securing the line and the fire was contained to the street. Fire is out at this time.”

Cullman Fire Rescue crews turned the scene over to the utility company; they are working to get utilities restored at this time.
