MATT GENTRY Will Seek Re-Election As Cullman County Sheriff

Cullman County Sheriff – Matt Gentry (R) of Cullman – will seek re-election in the upcoming 2018 elections. If elected, it will be his 2nd term in office.

Gentry filed his official qualifying documents today on Tuesday.

As a very popular incumbent, Sheriff Gentry is the only person so far to throw their hat in the ring to compete for the Sheriff’s office seat. Most political observers expect Genty to run unopposed.

Below, Sheriff Gentry is pictured with Cullman County Republican Party Chairman, Waid Harbison.

Qualifying Monday was Jason Speegle (R) of Good Hope. He will seek re-election representing Good Hope on the Cullman County Board of Education. If elected, it will be his 2nd term on the Board.

Also qualifying today was a challenger to Garry Marchman in the race for Cullman County Commision. Political newcomer Andy C. Coffey made his long-held intentions official. He will be vying for election as County Commissioner representing Place 2.

This leaves District Judge Wells ‘Rusty’ Turner as the only incumbent elected official to have not yet qualified to run for re-election. We expect Judge Turner to be the closer, filing his campaign paperwork in the coming today.
