Cullman County Schools Close Thursday Friday For Flu Clean-Up & Recovery

Absences across the Cullman County School system topped 1,000 students today.

Not all the absences are flu epidemic related, but the majority are believed to be caused by the influenza bug running loose across Cullman County.

As a result, Cullman County Schools Superintendent Shane Barnette has made the move to close all schools – countywide – on Thursday and Friday:

“In additions to students being out, we have teachers, bus drivers, and support staff absent as well. By closing the schools for two days, plus a weekend, we get almost five full days to conduct deep cleanings of the schools AND allow time for everyone afflicted with the flu to regroup and recover.”
