Governor Ivey Visits Cullman; Celebrates $80 Million Topre Expansion

Topre America Corporation proudly announced an $80 million expansion project at 10 am today. It is a state-of-the-art facility estimated to create approximately 98 new jobs at their County Road 222 location.

The Industrial Development Board of the City of Cullman hosted this event. Their featured guest was Alabama Governor Kay Ivey.

She made a special trip from Montgomery to Cullman this morning.

The expansion will focus on a new manufacturing production line which will be used to supply parts for Nissan’s 2018 Altima built in Smyrna, TN.

Topre America Corporation plans to install a new press line and machining equipment on a new press pit. Future expansion is clearly on Topre’s mind. The project calls for a total capital investment of $80 million. Construction is slated to begin in the coming months.

In addition to a delegation of local, state and company officials the following dignitaries participated in the ceremony hosted at Topre’s North American headquarters in Cullman:

Hideo Shimizu – Topre America President
Brad Pepper – Topre Vice-President,
Kay Ivey – Alabama Governor
Greg Canfield – Alabama Secretary of Commerce,
Kenneth Boswell – ADECA Director
Dale Greer – Director Cullman Economic Development Agency

In addition to the new expansion, Topre America Corporation also celebrated the opening of its most recent development: a $3 million, a 42,000-square-foot multipurpose facility that opened in December 2017.

The structure is being used for storage and distribution.

Governor Ivey had these thoughts:

“It is always a good day when existing Alabama businesses choose to expand. Topre America’s expansion is a testament to the quality of our workforce and makes clear that world-class companies can and will be successful in Alabama. I am proud to be leading a state that is committed to helping both our people and our businesses thrive.”

Greer said the project announcement is a reflection of Topre’s success and reinvestment in the Cullman community. The Cullman location originally opened in 2003 with plans to create 200 jobs, and the company now employs approximately 600 in the Cullman area. This latest announcement is the fifth large expansion since the facility opened.
