Mudflows Shut Down Highway 69 In Baileyton

Deputies with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office are reporting that Alabama Highway 69 North near Baileyton Recycling is SHUT DOWN due to mudflows pouring onto the roadway.

This incident is occurring along the 9900 block of Highway 69 which is just east of Duck Creek in and around the County Road 1574 and 1674 intersection.

Motorists should use caution and avoid the area until this mess is cleaned up and the road made passable again.

Personnel from Fairview, Baileyton, Berlin and Joppa Fire Departments are on the scene assisting crews from the Alabama Department of Transporation (ALDOT) who have brought in a backhoe to move the mud.

We just spoke with Shane Anderson with Fairview Fire:

“69 is impassable at this point. ALDOT has a backhoe working and fire personnel are trying to scrape and wash everything way.”
