Last Scoring Barrage By J B Pennington Drops Hanceville 12-9

The Hanceville Baseball Bulldogs hosted the trans-county rival J.B. Pennington Tigers in a home non-conference game Thursday at 4 pm.

It was the Bulldogs second game of the 2018 season.

By the end of the sixth inning, Hanceville led the game 9-6. Things look favorable for the home team.

Then suddenly, Tigers erupted for six runs to lead the game and go on win the game by a score of 12-9.

As for the primary game statistics, the Tigers had seven hits and nine left on base, while the Bulldogs had ten hits and seven left on base. In fielding errors, the Bulldogs had nine, while the Tigers only had three errors.

Sophomore Matthew Cornelius went 4 for four from the plate, connecting with hits four different times.

Leading the game in Runs Batted In (RBI) for the Bulldogs was Junior Alex Campbell who brought in three runners on just two hits and scoring one run himself. Junior T. J. Kubia was walked twice by Pennington pitchers.

For the visiting Tigers, Jalon Bullard and Nikolas Brown were both 2 for four getting on base twice each.

Cade Timmerman provided 25% of the Tigers score with a total of three runs.

Getting on base most often for the Tigers was David Blaxton, who was goose-egged from the plate yet arriving on base twice on walks.

The fifth inning was an offensive explosion for the Bulldogs with five runs. The magic during the fifth inning was being led by Junior Tate Brown, followed by Matthew Cornelius, Kainen Cruce, Ashton James, and Allen Huckaby, all getting runs into home plate.

Leading off the game on the mound, was Sophomore Kainen Cruce. He gave up two runs on one hit over a period of two innings and walking one player. Relieving Cruce, was Senior Dalton Rice and Junior Alex Campbell.
