Hanceville High Lady Bulldogs Win 2018 Softball Season Opener

The Hanceville High School Lady Bulldogs won their seasonal opener against the Fairview School Lady Aggies this week by the score of 8-6.

Both teams featured brand new head coaches at the helm of their programs. The Lady Bulldogs are coached by Whitney Young, and the Lady Aggies are coached by Annie King.

The Lady Aggie’s started out the game with Sophomore Kennedy Johnson batting in one run during the first inning, putting Fairview ahead 1-0. The Lady Aggie’s held Hanceville to zero runs during the first inning.

The Lady Bulldogs then scored two runs in the second inning.

They then scored another five runs against the Lady Aggies in the third inning. The scoring rampage was led by Senior Jadah Hurst (#4), followed by Junior Lexie Edwards (#13), Junior Isabella Elliott (#14), and then wrapping it up and forcing the Lady Aggies to make an error Freshman Cassidy Campbell (#18).

The Lady Aggies then made a partial comeback in the fourth inning. The Lady Aggies generated three runs, with Eighth Grader Rebekah Deblanc and Junior Kennedy Chambers batting in the runs. The Lady Aggies kept the Bulldogs to no runs that inning, making the score 7-4.

The Lady Bulldogs then scored one run in the fifth inning, and with the Lady Aggies scored two runs in the sixth inning. Hanceville kept Fairview from scoring in the seventh inning to secure the win.

Sophomore Katie Ball and Eighth Grader Rebekah Deblanc led the Aggies with two runs. Pitcher Ally Hogeland connected with the ball twice. Sophomore Kennedy Johnson batted in two runs.

Junior Isabella Elliott (#14) had two hits after four-time of being at the plate. However, she could never make it all 240 feet back to home plate. Junior Lexie Edwards (#13) and Junior Gracie Hudson (#7) both had two runs for the Bulldogs. From the hill forty-six feet away, Freshman Cassidy Campbell had ten strikeouts.
