Cullman Attorney Randy Hames Arrested Again

Racks Up Two New Human Trafficking Charges

Two new victims in the expanding trail of alleged Human Trafficking crimes facing Cullman attorney Randy Hames have come forward.

Hames was arrested this morning by deputies with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken to the Cullman County Detention Center where he was once again booked, processed, and charged with:

• Human Trafficking – 1st Degree

• Human Trafficking – 2nd Degree

Today’s arrests represent TWO NEW VICTIMS. Today’s arrests bring the total number of women allegedly victimized by Hames to FOUR (4).

Hames posted a $80,000 property bond on these new charges.

What Is Human Trafficking in the 1st Degree?

The Alabama Code – Section 13A-6-152 defines Human trafficking in the first degree as:

(a) A person commits the crime of human trafficking in the first degree if:

(1) He or she knowingly subjects another person to labor servitude or sexual servitude through use of coercion or deception.

(2) He or she knowingly obtains, recruits, entices, solicits, induces, threatens, isolates, harbors, holds, restrains, transports, provides, or maintains any minor for the purpose of causing a minor to engage in sexual servitude.

Human trafficking in the first degree is a Class A felony punishable by a definite term of imprisonment, which imprisonment includes hard labor, within the following limitations:

For life or not more than 99 years or less than ten years.

BACKGROUND

Hames was taken into custody on the morning of March 5th at the Cullman County Courthouse by deputies with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office.

Hames was practicing law inside the Courthouse at the time of the arrest.

Transported to the Cullman County Detention Center, he was processed, booked and charged with:

• Human Trafficking – 2nd degree (2 counts)

Arrested in late February, the 75-year-old Cullman Attorney stands accused by Kayla Carreker and Tomeka Bartlett of stalking them as well as seeking sexual interactions in exchange for rent payments.

As as a result, four (4) misdemeanor charges were filed against Hames at the Cullman County Courthouse through the 32nd Circuit Clerk’s Office. In February, the charges filed against him were:

• Soliciting Prostitution – 2 counts
• Stalking – 2nd degree – 2 counts

Bond was set at $300 for each case.

The bond amount for the original Human Trafficking charges are $15,000 per case.
