Cullman Today At Opening Day of Major League Baseball 2018

Thursday (March 29th) was opening day for America’s favorite professional sports pastime: Major League Baseball.

I experienced the smell of fresh popcorn and concession workers yelling, “Get your ice-cold beer here now.”

March 29th is the earliest Opening Day in the history of baseball. With every single franchise playing a game (a rarity for opening day) there was plenty of action for you to watch on television.

I was at Citi Field in New York City to cover New York Mets versus the St. Louis Cardinals.

It was an even game until the fifth inning with both clubs trading runs in the early innings.

The Mets finally said they were tired of being tied and posted a whopping five runs with two outs already on the board.

Both teams scored one extra run apiece in the later innings.

The game concluded with a final score of 9-4. The Mets picked up twelve hits compared to the Cardinals six hits and one error.

Here are the opening day scores:
* Chicago Cubs 8 – Miami Marlins 4
* New York Mets 9 – St. Louis Cardinals 4
* Baltimore Orioles 3 – Minnesota Twins 2
* Houston Astros 4 – Texas Rangers 1
* New York Yankees 6 – Toronto Blue Jays 1
* Tampa Bay Rays 6 – Boston Red Sox 4
* Oakland Athletics 6 – Los Angeles Angles 5
* Milwaukee Brewers 2 – San Diego Padres 1
* Atlanta Braves 8 – Philadelphia Phillies 5
* Chicago White Sox 14 – Kansas City Royals 7
* San Francisco Giants 1 – Los Angeles Dodgers 0
* Cleveland Indians Seattle Mariners – Not Finished
* Colorado Rockies Arizona Diamondbacks – Not Finished
* Washington Nationals Cincinnati Reds – Postponed
* Pittsburgh Pirates Detroit Tigers – Postponed

With only 161 more games to go, it will not be to late to count out any of these teams.

FYI: I did eat the popcorn; I did not consume any beer.
