Craft and Associates Named General Contractor Over County Hailstorm Repairs

At a Special Called Meeting of the Cullman County Commission this afternoon, Craft & Associates was selected to lead the reclamation and repairs of all Cullman County properties damaged by the historic March 19th hailstorm.

Potential contractors who entered the selection process were:

C. H. Harris, Inc.
Craft & Associates, Inc.
Eidson & Associates, Inc.

Chairman Kenneth Walker, Commissioners Kerry Watson, and Garry Marchman poured over the sealed proposals of each firm for approximately 15 minutes.

Top County Administrator Gary Teichmiller, County Attorney Chad Floyd, County Clerk Charlotte Slatton, and Cullman EMA Director Phyllis Little all sat in on this historic selection process.

Kraft & Association was chosen based on qualifications, their proposal, and their experience in working inside the Cullman County Detention Center.

Commissioner Marchman:

“This was a strong group of contractors. In reviewing their qualifications, any of the three firms look capable of meeting the minimum requirements necessary to do the job.”

A final estimate of total hail damage costs across all County properties is not precisely known. An amount well over $10 million seems likely at this point.
