Everyone who participated in Saturday’s Colors of Cancer Day 5K Run/Walk was a winner.

With a race time temperature of 42 degrees, wind chills in the low 30’s and spitting rain, a small group of committed runners and walkers hit the asphalt at 8 am in support of Colors of Cancer.

The truly cold environment moved all participants along a little faster than normal around the Cullman Faigrounds/Sportsman Lake Park course.

Here are the official Winners of this event:

Best Overall FEMALE Time
Samantha Crawford

Best Overall MALE Time
Tim Willoughby

Louise Cole is the President of the Bosom Buddies Foundation. She was impressed by the commitment of this small, yet hardy, group of runners:

“When the weather is nice, like in years past, we have a large field of runners and walkers filling up this course. Understandably, this freakishly cold weather keep many participants at home. You have to be impressed by the commitment and tenacity of these folks who mustered the motivation to turn out.”

Bosom Buddies President Louise Cole was touched by the community support her Foundation receives:

“I have only lived in Cullman for a short time (2 years). I was surprised to find such a genuinely loving, caring, and giving community. When we ask for donations, no one says ’no’. As a group, and on behalf of our cancer patients, we are extremely grateful for everyone’s support!”

All funds generated from the three Colors of Cancer events this year support the Cullman County Bosom Buddies Foundation which focuses its efforts on financially assisting cancer patients throughout Cullman County.

The Motorcycle Rally slated for Saturday was postponed until next Saturday 4/21).

The Swamp Johns featuring Revelations Quartet event at Festhalle went on as planned from 4 to 7 pm.
