The Cullman Homeschool Connection in conjunction with Fancher Education Center brought famed ABC 33/40 meteorologist James Spann to Cullman this week.

Coach Spann dazzled the 275 attendees with a fast-paced and highly entertaining 45-minute multimedia weather presentation designed especially for children in the Cullman homeschool community.

This gathering was held Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church on 3rd Street SE.

The anticipatory buzz in the auditorium prior to Spann’s arrival was palpable from the young students.

Spann made his presentation very student friendly. Taking on the role of weatherman, scientist, philosopher, professor, comedian, coach, and wiseguy, he wowed, mystified and entertained all ages:

Prior to taking the stage, the sassy meteorologist shared these telling thoughts alluding to what was to about to occur on stage:

“You know if I weren’t doing this for a living, I’d be a 3rd-grade science teacher and a youth baseball coach.”

Cherelle Fancher, the Director of the Cullman Home School Connection and owner of Fancher Education Center (located in uptown Cullman) was thrilled to have Alabama’s biggest and best-known weather celebrity address her students:

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to have been a part of bringing so much joy and knowledge to so many people who are part of a community that very often gets overlooked. Mr. Spann is a gifted speaker who engages children and adults alike and I can’t wait till the next time we have him out, hopefully in a bigger venue that can hold everyone who wants to be a part of this fantastic opportunity to learn.”

Spann’s presentation ran the gamut across all the fundamentals of basic meteorology imparting wisdom and warnings along the way.

Bo Waldrop of East Side Barber Shop was the primary sponsor for this super fun educational event.

All the James Spann youth fan attendees signed this giant card thanking the barber shop for their sponsoring:
