CULLMAN EMS REMEMBERS April 27 2011

The emergency response personnel and paramedics of Cullman Emergency Medical Services (Cullman EMS) took some time today to reflect on the events April 27, 2011.

They shared thoughts, feelings, and memories as well as old photographs.

Their facility on 2nd Avenue SW was hit hard by the tornados that day, but the staff at Cullman EMS’s work was just beginning as the tornado passed by …

This afternoon, Cullman EMS Director James Curtis best summed up the sentiments of fellow employees of the agency who lived through the ordeal on that incredibly challenging day for the entire community:

“It is humbling to work with and live in a community with so many people; who in times of great need, put other people before themselves. I am extremely proud of their dedication to duty and the work they do.”

Jonathan Cook (a supervisor at Cullman EMS) took two of these photographs as the tornado was still in the air. The third photo is from an unknown party.
