Cullman Cancer Survivor Breakfast 2018

A very large group of Cullman cancer survivors gathered at the Cullman Church of Christ this morning. The occasion was the Cancer Survivor Breakfast 2018.

This food and fellowship gathering has become a traditional event held in conjunction with (and ahead of) the annual Relay For Life get together.

The 2018 edition will be the 25th anniversary of Relay For Life coming to Cullman.

Today’s gathering featured an extremely tasty and bountiful breakfast meal provided and served through the hard work of the Holly Pond Civitans and the Holly Pond Key Club.

Beyond the food, the Breakfast gave cancer survivors a safe and supportive environment to laugh, cry, reminisce, look forward, and share their personal stories, all lifting up the spirits and positive outlooks of everyone involved.

Hellen Allen welcomed the crowd with Brother Jeremy Crowe offering an Invocation. Next was ‘Message In A Song’ beautifully rendered by Trevor Shoemaker and Abrey Norman of Holly Pond High School.

Linda Walker introduced featured speaker Garry Marchman. Marchman is a cancer survivor and a sitting Cullman County Commissioner. His testimony was both inspirational and powerful.

Perhaps the most touching and important moment of the breakfast was the Pinning Ceremony of Survivors and Caregivers conducted by Jan Pierce and Linda Walker.

We gathered together a few of the cancer survivors who bravely offered there stories and experiences in order to help everyone understand the life journey of cancer survivors:
