Adelsheim Domestic Shooting Suspect Arrested

You may recall the domestic incident that escalated into a shooting back on May 3rd. This is the incident that resulted in two men being hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

Today, Captain Beck Boyd of the Cullman Police Department announced that one individual related to the incident was arrest today. That individual is:

JOSE FRANCISCO FIGUEROA (27) of Holly Pond

Figueroa has been processed, booked and received these criminal charges from a two count warrant:

Assault 1st degree
Assault 2nd degree

Figueroa is currently held at the Cullman County Detention Center. No word yet on bond information.

Background (our report from May 3rd)

Many residents in the secluded, and normally quiet, Adelsheim housing addition were awoken early this morning by the sounds and lights of emergency response vehicles.

A domestic situation is believed to have escalated into to a shooting incident involving two men.

The shootings occurred along the 2000 block of Adelshiem Circle SE just before 1:30 am.

Personnel from the Cullman Police Department, Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, Cullman Fire Rescue, Cullman EMS, and Air Evac Lifeteam were active at the scene.

The most severely wound man was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital. The second was taken to the same facility by ambulance.

The location and extent of these men’s gunshot wounds is not publicly available.

The location of the shootings is just south of Swafford Road SW and just west of Highway 31. Many homes in this area were hit hard by the March 19th hailstorm.

Police investigators – led by Lieutenant Gene Bates – are still compiling evidence and working to verify all the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. The names of the parties involved have not been released.
