20th Annual Hanceville Antique Tractor & Engine Show

Charles W. Allen and Bonnie Hamrick Brennan carried on the legacy of Jimmy Hamrick today on the campus of Wallace State Community College.

Together, Allen and Hamrick held the 20th annual Hanceville Antique Tractor & Engine Show today in Hanceville. The pair has successfully kept the dream of this event’s originator (Jimmy Hamrick) alive through the yearly presentation of this show since his premature death in a backhoe tractor accident in 2010.

This walking tour and interview series from the Tractor & Engine Show today explains the profound effect of Jimmy Hamrick’s legacy on this show while we speak with the driving forces behind the event (Allen and Brennan) along with Hanceville Mayor Kenneth Nail, and a delightful cast of vendors, support personnel, and attendees:

Dozens of engine aficionados along with hardcore tractor restoration collectors had all manner of apparatus on display. A large number of the tractor enthusiasts exhibiting their tractors are members of the Alabama Chapter 23 International Harvester Collectors Club.

This year the actual footprint of the show was moved from the hot, open asphalt parking lot of times past to the comparatively much cooler, and welcomed shade provided by the trees to the west of the towering Tom Bevill Health Education Building.

This event was open to participants of all ages. Several hundred people made their way through the various exhibitions and vendors over the 6-hour course of the show,

There was more here than just tractors and engines, of course. We discovered the best homemade ice cream we’ve tasted in years, AND witnessed:

• Slow Races
• Skillet Throwing Contests
• Peddle Tractor Races and the
