Simcoe Man Arrested With Heroin At Decatur Morgan Hospital

The Decatur Police Department (DPD) responded to a suspicious person call emanating from Decatur Morgan Hospital around 10:30 pm Tuesday night.

Sergeant Byron Williams of DPD made contact with Michael Jay Sweaza. Witnesses confirmed this was the suspicious man in question.

During Sgt. Williams’ investigation, he located a loaded syringe along with a small tin with a brown rock-like substance in Sweaza’s possession.

The brown substance was determined to be Heroin.

Mr. Sweaza was promptly arrested and transported to the Morgan County Jail where he was booked, processed, and charged with:

• Possession of A Controlled Substance

That charge is linked to related to 13A-012-212 of the Alabama Code. It is considered a felony.

The hospital is located at 1201 Seventh Street SE in Decatur.
