Ty Parker Departs West Point to Lead Arab High School Band

The popular high school band director at West Point High School has made the decision to depart the school. Mr. Parker has accepted a similar position at Arab High School.

His recent Facebook says it all:

Ty Parker Departs West Point to Lead Arab High School Band

Parker met with many with Arab band students and parents at the Arab High School library last week. 

A 2005 graduate of Vinemont High School, Parker holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Alabama and a master’s in music education from Auburn University.

No official word on who may replace Parker at West Point.

About Ty Parker

Ty Parker received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from The University of Alabama. He received a Master of Music Education degree from Auburn University.

While attending the University of Alabama, he served The Million Dollar Band as alto saxophone section leader during his sophomore year and as Drum Major during his junior and senior years. He was also selected to represent the Million Dollar Band and the University Band department at University Student Government meetings and at functions such as Alabama All State Band Festival, the Bands of America Regional Championship competition in Atlanta, and the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago. Among his peers, Ty served as President of the University of Alabama’s Music Education Chapter during his junior and senior years.

From 2010-2015, Mr. Parker was the director at Good Hope School.
