CPD Busts Nauvoo Multi-Time Offender For Alleged Meth Distribution

The Cullman Police Department’s Crime Suppression Unit continues there vigilance against drug and narcotic crimes in the City of Cullman.

The Unit recently arrested LILES NEAL WIMBS (30) who resides in Nauvoo in Walker County. Based upon evidence found during a criminal investigation, Wimbs is suspected of selling methamphetamine.

Following his arrest, he was transported to the Cullman County Detention Center. Wimbs was then booked, processed and charged with:

• Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance (2 counts)

Arrested on July 12th, Wims made a $15,000 property bond on July 17th and released from jail.

Wims files an Affidavit of Substantial Hardship in order obtain a court-appointed attorney. Jason Paul Knight is set to defend Wims.

Wims has a lengthy criminal complaint history dating back to 2007 that includes several issues with Negotiating Worthless Instruments and Controlled Substances as well as Marijuana Possession and Traffic Offenses.

The Honorable District Judge Wells Turner III will hear this current case. A hearing date has not yet been established.
