EMA Award, Widening County Roads Highlight Commission Meeting

The following Cullman County Commission business was conducted Tuesday morning (July 10, 2018) at 10:00 am in the commission meeting room of the Cullman County Courthouse.

NOTE: The Cullman County Commission meets every second and fourth Tuesday, except in cases where the meeting date falls on a holiday, in which case the meeting is moved to the following day. Meetings are scheduled for 10 am in the Commission Office Conference Room, first floor, Cullman County Courthouse, Cullman, Alabama, unless otherwise specified.

THE AGENDA

UPDATE: The lease agreement with the County Board of Education for the leasing of the Old Health Department Building.

Cullman County Attorney Chad Floyd indicated to the Commission that Ed Roberson representing the Board of Education had informed him they were not interested in pursuing the lease.

APPOINTMENT: Commissioner Garry Marchman appointed Mike Cone to the CCCDD310 Authority for a term to expire April 1, 2024.

ADOPTED: The Commission adopted County Road Engineer John Lang‘s request to formalize a procedure entitled ‘Guidelines For Having County Roads Widened.’

Lang will codify – in writing – a procedure for receiving, assessing and responding to requests seeking to widen county roads.

SURPLUS: The Commission voted to surplus a 2006 Ford Explorer (VIN #1FMEU63EX6UA98472) from the Sheriff’s Office donated to Battleground Volunteer Fire Department.

AUTHORIZED: Purchase of repair parts for a motor grader from Warrior Tractor. Cost = $8,500.

APPROVED: A proposed plat for Smith Acres Subdivision located in District 3 on County Road 1428 and County Road 1437.

APPROVED: A variance for re-subdivision of lots 17 and 18 in Hawk’s Nest Phase 2 Subdivision located in District 2 off County Road 184.

RECOGNITION: Cullman County EMA Director Phyllis Little for winning the ‘Pat Neuhauser Spirit of Emergency Management Award.’
